Biography: how we got from there to here.
KIBUKA is a new project from Dean Dennis & collaborator Snook.
Whilst working over the past couple of years we have found that our material was becoming increasingly diverse. There became the need to develop 2 projects: Nohno & latterly Kibuka.
Nohno was established in 2004/2005 and has evolved into something more down-tempo experimental and atmospheric. A jazz, ambient & break beat influenced project.
Soundtracks for your disjointed dreams.
Metropolis was Nohno’s debut release (2006).
“Walk Don’t Run”
“Train Home”
Kibuka began as a separate project in 2008
Kibuka enables us to enjoy a different way of working and is more beat driven, perhaps more reflective of previous projects.Old school arts & crafts brought up to date for the 21st Century.
Reflecting a dystopian & paranoid perspective.
Sound tracks for conspiracy theorists & the dispossessed.

CLOCK DVA 1982 -1983 with pause for thought then 1987 –1992
Perhaps the work I am best known for is the period I spent as a member of Clock DVA. During this time I had the privilege to work with great musicians including Nick Sanderson, Paul A. Browse & John Valentine Carruthers. I was relatively young when I joined –still a teenager in fact.
I first joined Clock DVA in 1982 as Bass player & was involved in composing the songs for the album Advantage. During the Advantage tour Clock DVA decided to split up.
In 1984 I was involved with The Anti Group Collective: which at that time also included Nick Sanderson, Glen & Dave Heppinstal, Paul Browse, Bob Baker & of course Adi Newton.
After the live show at the Pandoras Box Festival 1994 I hit the road with Nick Sanderson touring with the Jeffrey Lee Pierce Quartet. This was a great adventure and I have my fondest memories of Nick from that time.
After the Jeffrey Lee Pierce tour I started to work with Adi, Paul & Bob again as part of TAGC making contributions to the 12”
: Big Sex2 1987 & Broadcast Test 1988
In 1987 Clock DVA reformed the aim of expanding upon the techniques developed during the explorations of TAGC. I rejoined as Bass player & composer: developing skills in electronic composition using keyboard & Midi Bass & drum machine.
Clock DVA was reborn as an electronic project and was to become influential in the Industrial & EBM scene for many years to come.
Whilst a member of this incarnation of Clock DVA I was co-composer & equal musical contributor for the following main releases:
Bitstream 1992 (EP)
Digital Soundtracks 1992 (Album)
Man Amplified 1991 (ALBUM)
“Axiomatic & Heuristic”
Transitional Voices 1991 (ALBUM)
Soundmirror 1989 (EP)
The Act 1989 (EP)
The Hacker Hacked 1989 (EP)
Buried Dreams 1989 (ALBUM)
“Sound Mirror (reflected)”
The Act 1988 (EP)
The Hacker 1988 (EP)

SECTOR 1993 –2001
Sector was my first solo project and started soon after I left Clock DVA in 1992.
My intention was to experiment in some new directions. At that time there were a number of innovations starting in the electronic scene, some of which were being pioneered in Sheffield. I was keen to explore the benefits of working as a solo artist but also to work with other musicians whose work I respected. During the early period of Sector I collaborated occasionally with Sheffield artists including Rob Gordon & Dj Mink and released the following:
Orange 1996. Album
“Orange”
Industrial Cosmetics 1994. Album
The time spent recording “Orange” was particularly stressful and difficult with very limited equipment & little finance available for studio time. During that period it seemed as if the music industry as we knew it was imploding (how little did we know). I decided to take a break and studied something new.
However despite my resolve never to produce music again I found that something deep was missing from my life and no amount of trying to quiet the cruel mistress would bring me peace.
In 2000 I started to make music again. This time in isolation and continued with the project name of Sector. I secured 2 deals both with New York Record labels and in 2002 released :
Morpheus : 12” Vinyl on Sonic Groove
The Yellow Room: Album. Released on Shadow Records a sub-label of Instinct records
“Robotics”
In 2004 I decided to change my life & left Sheffield. It was also time to leave Sector behind and start a new project. Which takes us right back to the start of this.
